Codeway CW80 Pick and Place heads for Avery 64 label printers

Integrate labelling with automated mechanical handling processes and semi-automatic jigs

The Codeway CW-80 is a pick and place labelling head for Avery 64-04 printers.

It is especially suitable for applying smaller labels to components and products in processing operations.

An external PLC controls the print apply cycle:

  1. print and dispense label
  2. pickup label
  3. swing arm forward into position
  4. drive air-cylinder and head towards item
  5. tamp label onto product and retract cylinder
  6. return head to pick up next label

The CW-8o is ideal for integration within automated production and
assembly machines.

It is also suitable for semi-automatic use where operators feed items into jigs.

Products must be stationary at the point of labelling.

Codeway CW-80 pick and place units are in use for film processing, plastic moulding identification and GS1 (EAN) labelling.

Outline Specifications

Example

A plastic moulder producing building components wanted to mark them with EAN codes used at builders merchants. They needed labels made from a synthetic material to allow for recycling.

Items come out of moulding machine one at a time, are check-weighed and passed over vibrating table to position in the same orientation, and then picked up by a holding mechanism and positioned ready to receive the label.

Codeway programmerd the applicator arm to swing forward by 18º then reach out to apply the label at the correct angle. Finally a fixed barcode scanner checks the barcode on the label, and raises an alarm if there is a problem
