NiceDrivers - Bidirectional
Bidirectional printer drivers are the next step towards satisfying industry's demand for faultless high-speed printing.
Status monitor utility
Prevents interruptions and avoids related costs in production and distribution facilities:
Uros Podlogar, head of NiceDriver development says,“Standard Windows printing is a one way process, where user does not get much feedback information after the print job is sent to Windows and this is far from optimal”.
“We’re designing additional printer driver components to enable status detection on printers that are supporting bi-directional communication. Status requests are sent to the printer on regular intervals or before each label is printed. If any errors are detected, the printing process is paused until the error is removed.”
“From a technical point of view I can say that printer administrators will benefit from monitoring that includes standard and printer specific error messages. For some printers additional dialogs are implemented, where users can check and change certain printer specific parameters”
Intermec bidirectional drivers were introduced in February 2006. Support for other printer brands will also be available with the next releases.
