Tracing Packaging Materials

Biscuits, fruit and many other food products come in plastic trays produced from jumbo rolls of plastic. One manufacturer wanted to improve its material control and provide traceability data.

When a roll of packaging material is moved from a storage location the fork lift driver scans the barcode on the roll and then scans the barcode representing the destination location.

When only part of the roll is used the reverse process applies.

RealTime2 checks the data and writes it to a table. The production control system polls this table continuously and keeps the system up to date via ODBC.
