Butcher labels choice cuts
A Smithfield butcher supplying meat to caterers and big name London restaurants needed a standalone labelling system in a hose-proof stainless steel enclosure in the cutting room.
The product file on his PC held about 120 stock keeping units (SKUs).
Requirement
The butcher wanted to hold the product details in the printer, and enter SKUS on the printer's key pad. The printer was to look up the product details and produce a label.
Solution
The butcher downloads the product file from time to time.
For multiple packs the butchet types in the quantity of labels. The printer prints the first label for checking and waits for confirmation. This avoids mistakes and label wastage.
Next Step
Networking standalone printers is a good idea if you want to capture data for production records and traceability.
